The City of Columbia, Parks and Recreation Department is building a new trail system
Hickory Ridge at the Columbia Aquatics & Recreation Center
UPDATE 11/21/2025
βThe new mountain bike trails at the Columbia Aquatics & Recreation Center are progressing, but they remain under construction and are not open for public use. Some sections may look inviting, but the surfaces are unfinished, the features are not finalized, and early traffic causes damage that slows the project and creates unnecessary safety concerns.
The winter season adds an extra layer of difficulty. Cold and damp weather prevents the soil from drying completely, and muddy conditions are both unsafe for riders and extremely hard on trail work. Riding during this stage can undo hours of shaping and makes both building and maintenance dramatically more difficult.
We know interest is growing and we want to share this project with the community. As progress continues, we will host official demo days and ride days. These will be announced publicly and will allow riders to experience the trail in a controlled and safe setting.
Until then, we ask that general riders stay off the site. Respecting the closure allows our crews to build the trail correctly and keeps the project on schedule.
Once the system is fully ready, we will make a public announcement. Thank you for your patience, your support, and your respect for the work that is underway.β
